Chapter 3: The First Mods

I knew right from the start what I wanted. I wanted a pale resto-cal looker, Loads of chrome, polished empi 5 spokes and loads of period accessories. Slammed!

The first thing I needed to do was to get it lowered. I wanted the ride to stay nice so i opted for a pair of propped spindles. These were more expensive that swayaway adjusters but meant I could keep the standard height shock absorbers. I was going to get belts in the front, repair a nasty rear quarter panel and get the whole thing looked over. and the rear susspension dropped by two splines.

After a few calls I opted for this work to be done by fox classics in sheffield. I went on holiday for a week and returned to find a nice slammed but otherwise stock beetle. Cool.
